Round 4 of the Super League was again full of excitement as the 12 sides battled it out in the early season games to get 2 competition points on the board.

Game of the week

Hull FC 20 – 14 Wakefield Trinity (MOM Joe Westerman)

Friday night saw a clash between two Yorkshire rivals under the flood lights at the KCOM stadium in Hull, it was the home side who opened up the scoring after ten minutes when the powerful back rower Andre Savelio crashed through the tackle of Wakefield’s Ryan Hampshire to score.

Hull FC tacked on two more points on the half hour mark to make it 8 – 0 through the deadly boot of Marc Sneyd after Wakefield were penalised for an awkward looking tip tackle on Hull prop Satae.

Hull FC were once again putting the pressure on Wakefield it looked as though winger Adam Swift was about to stroll in but Jake Connors pass was intercepted by stand in winger Kershaw who showed a clean pair of heals to race away and score a 90m try .

Five minutes into the second half Marc Sneyd played a clever kick into the corner which was plucked out the air by Adam Swift, Sneyd’s kick was successful from the touchline to make it 14 – 6.

Wakefield got themselves back into the game five minutes later after the impressive back rower James Batchelor chased a kick from halfback Ryan Hampshire to touchdown just before the dead ball line.

Trinity were in again after a Marc Sneyd’s kick was charged down by Jordan Crowther, Mason Lino gathered the ball and raced away from 45m out to level the scores at 14 – 14.

Jake Connor provided a sublime late ball at the line ten minutes from the final hooter to centre Carlos Tuimavave who slid over to give Hull the lead and a hard earned victory.
